Coping with spring depression

image When the flowers start coming out and the sun shines almost every day, most of us feel happy and content. It is so natural to be excited about spring and looking forward to the summer!

However for some people spring is the time of dark depression. The reason is that the difference between a depressed person's inner world and the outer world is too painful. For those who have struggled through a rough and depressing winter the time of renewal and rebirth is just a continuation of their misery. It is no surprise that suicide rates increase in spring.

If you go through a period of depression don't be in a hurry to take antidepressants. They may work as a quick fix of the problem but they are not good enough to solve it. It is better to try these simple but effective tips to overcome your hard time.

- Exercise your muscles and get out in to the sun as much as possible
- Keep yourself busy
- Make few but good friends who will be always there to support you
- Learn to like yourself better
- Go for a massage or hug and cuddle someone
- Laugh as much as you can, watching hilarious movies or reading funny books
